Sahibzada Farhan has been given a new role as an opener by the Lahore Qalandars management and he has lived up to the task. He scored back-to-back fifties already in his first two matches in the ninth edition.
Farhan scored 57 runs off 36 balls in the opening match of the season, followed by a rapid 62 (43) in the second match against Quetta Gladiators. The 27-year-old explosive batter, if able to continue his form in the following matches, may make a strong case for re-selection in the national side.

This can revive his international career, which was looking bleak after his poor in the recent series against New Zealand. So far, Sahibzada Farhan has scored just 60 runs in five T20Is with an average of 12.00 and a strike rate of 96.77.
Even the last season of Pakistan Super League wasn't fruitful for Farhan. He didn't score a single fifty last year but he has scored two of them consecutively already this season. Last season, he scored 191 runs in 14 matches with an average of 14.6 and a highest score of 44 runs. The numbers aren't painting the very picture for him till last season.
However, the promotion from middle-order to opening the innings proved to be a blessing for Sahibzada Farhan. He has been the lower middle-order batter for most of his career where he showcased few sparks but not on perpetual bases.
Nonetheless, things are looking bright for Farhan this time around. His ability to find boundaries effortlessly and shift gears at the very right moment proved potent for the Lahore Qalandars. Farhan's aggressive approach with the bat can contribute significantly to the team's cause as well as his personnel's cause. By continuing this run of his, he'll be knocking at the door of the national side.
