PSL 2025: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a special bonus of USD 100,000 for six high-profile foreign players participating in the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
This additional incentive is part of a USD 1 million special fund created to attract elite talent and strengthen the league's profile globally. Among the marquee players set to benefit from this initiative is Australian opener David Warner, who signed on for a lucrative USD 300,000 contract. Among other star names participating are New Zealand's Kane Williamson.

Of this, USD 100,000 will be contributed directly by the PCB from the special fund, reducing the burden on PSL franchises. This fund was initially established when the league's central pool broadcast revenue crossed 3 billion rupees, with an annual allocation of USD 500,000 for top-tier player salaries. Since the amount went unused last year, it has now doubled to USD 1 million.
The PCB's decision aims to position the PSL as a competitive alternative to other global T20 leagues, particularly the Indian Premier League (IPL). Notably, this year marks the first time the PSL will run concurrently with the IPL, with its window spanning from April 17 to May 22, while the IPL is scheduled from March 21 to late May. This overlap adds another layer of competition between the two leagues.
In addition to Warner, several international players who went unsold in the IPL auction have been roped in for PSL 10. Names such as Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, Finn Allen, Matthew Short, Sean Abbott, Nahid Rana, Liton Das, Michael Bracewell, Rassie van der Dussen, and Corbin Bosch have joined PSL franchises, further boosting the league's star power.
Historically, the PSL's highest-paid players included icons like Kieron Pollard and AB de Villiers. However, the PCB's new initiative reflects its commitment to elevating the league's appeal by ensuring competitive salaries for foreign stars.
As PSL 2025 approaches, the addition of global stars promises a thrilling tournament for fans. By utilizing the special fund to attract high-profile players, the PCB aims to bolster the PSL's standing in the international cricket calendar while navigating the challenges posed by its scheduling clash with the IPL.
