PSL 2025: David Warner, Khushdil Shah Shine as Karachi Kings Edge Peshawar Zalmi in Final-Over Thriller

In a pulsating PSL 2025 encounter at the National Stadium in Karachi, Karachi Kings scraped past Peshawar Zalmi by 2 wickets in a dramatic last-over finish. Chasing a modest target of 148, the Kings were propelled by David Warner's composed 60 and Khushdil Shah's nerveless cameo under pressure, handing them their second win of the season.

The Kings' chase got off to a shaky start as Luke Wood ran riot early, removing James Vince and Shan Masood to leave Karachi reeling. When young Saad Baig provided brief resistance with three boundaries in a Luke Wood over, it brought some life back into the innings, but his dismissal by Ali Raza shifted momentum again.

Through it all, David Warner stood firm. Mixing caution with aggression, the veteran southpaw anchored the innings beautifully. He rode his luck early but eventually hit top gear with crisp boundaries, reaching his fifty off 40 balls. His partnership with Irfan Khan stabilized the innings until a direct hit from Ali Raza caught Irfan short, leading to visible frustration from Warner.

With Mohammad Nabi falling to a smart Arif Yaqoob googly and wickets tumbling at the other end, the pressure was squarely on Warner. His dismissal in the 17th over to Luke Wood-a slower one that breached his defense-gave Zalmi a real sniff. At that point, Karachi still needed 28 off 21 balls.

Enter Khushdil Shah. Though scratchy at first, Khushdil found timely boundaries, including a vital one down the ground off Alzarri Joseph, to keep Karachi alive. The final overs were a cauldron of tension. Abbas Afridi and Aamer Jamal fell in quick succession, and with nine required from the final over and only two wickets in hand, Zalmi had their tails up.

Ali Raza, who had been excellent throughout, was tasked with bowling the final over. But Khushdil showed calm nerves, lofting the first ball past cover for four. Then Hasan Ali, under immense pressure, played a confident pull shot to the fence to finish the job. The roar from the crowd was deafening as Karachi Kings sealed a heart-stopping win with just two balls to spare.

For Zalmi, Luke Wood's 3/28 and Ali Raza's 2/32 nearly won them the game, but their batters had left too little on the board. Despite their bowling efforts, they paid the price for not crossing the 150-mark.

This victory will feel especially sweet for Karachi Kings-not just because of the result, but because of the grit and belief they showed in a match that swung dramatically till the very end. With Warner's class and Khushdil's finishing touch, the Kings kept their PSL hopes firmly alive.
