Multan Sultans vs Lahore Qalandars, PSL 2025 Match 12: Who Said What

Yasir Khan | Player of the Match

“Have been working hard for this day, our team needed this kind of innings. Happy to contribute. There’s a lot of hard work and practice behind this. That’s why I didn’t face any issue. This is how I play my shots, I know my power, I can hit it straight and over midwicket. Wanted to back my strengths. Had been waiting for my opportunity.”

Mohammad Rizwan

“The smile is back. We had not fielded well in the last three games. Our bowlers executed well today. We carried the momentum well today. Usman Khan was instrumental in creating that momentum for us. Our bowlers have been inexperienced since the last season, I’d like to talk to them and that’s why I’ve been fielding instead of keeping.”

Shaheen Afridi

“The conditions were tough. The bowlers tried different things but the ball was coming on nicely. Our plan was to try Mitchell as he will have to bowl in the coming games and give as much opportunity to everyone as possible. Rishad is bowling well, he's picking up wickets, unfortunately the pitch was not helpful today and as the tournament goes on, he will be effective. The tournament has just started and there is a long way to go.”

What happened in the match?

In a contest brimming with boundaries, flair, and late drama, both Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars delivered an entertaining T20 showdown that showcased power hitting and crucial pressure moments.

Multan laid the foundation for the spectacle with an imposing batting effort. Yasir Khan took centre stage with an electric 87 off just 44 deliveries, anchoring the innings while accelerating fearlessly. Backed by steady contributions through the middle order, the hosts piled on a massive total, capitalising on Lahore's inability to contain runs at the death.

The chase was anything but dull. Lahore Qalandars came out swinging, with Mohammad Naeem and Fakhar Zaman dealing in boundaries early. Zaman was especially aggressive, unsettling the Multan attack with a flurry of strokes. But once the top order was dismantled-courtesy of Michael Bracewell and Ubaid Shah -- the innings wobbled under scoreboard pressure.

Sam Billings and Sikandar Raza attempted a repair job, mixing rotation with the occasional big hit. Billings, in particular, played a classy hand, attacking the spinners and using the crease well. However, the momentum kept shifting, with Multan striking at timely intervals.

Sikandar Raza, calm amidst the collapse, mounted a solo counterattack in the final overs. He targeted David Willey and Joshua Little with clean hitting, even surviving a dropped catch to lift Lahore close to the mark. His fifty came off just 27 balls, packed with intent and resilience.

Yet, despite the late charge, the pressure of an ever-climbing required rate loomed large. Multan's bowlers, especially Ubaid Shah and Little, held firm in crunch time. Tight lines, smart variations, and fielding intensity helped drag the game away from Lahore's grasp. The match ended with applause-worthy efforts on both sides- one for setting the tone, the other for chasing it with heart.
