PSL 2025: Peshawar Zalmi name replacement for Corbin Bosch amid PCB legal notice drama following withdrawal

By MyKhel Staff

Peshawar Zalmi has secured Australian batter Mitchell Owen as a replacement for Corbin Bosch in PSL 2025, just days after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a legal notice to the South African all-rounder for breaching his PSL contract.

Corbin Bosch, who was originally picked in the Diamond category by Peshawar Zalmi, withdrew from the tournament to join Mumbai Indians for IPL 2025, triggering controversy.

Owen, a dynamic all-rounder, has been selected in the Supplementary category. He gained recognition in the Big Bash League (BBL), where he played a key role in guiding the Hobart Hurricanes to their maiden title. His explosive batting, particularly his record-equalling fastest century in BBL history, made him a standout performer. Despite going unsold in the initial PSL draft, he now finds himself in the Zalmi squad as they aim to strengthen their lineup ahead of PSL 10.

The franchise confirmed the signing through an Instagram post, stating, "Supplementary draft pick. All-Rounder Mitchell Owen joins the Zalmi squad for [PSL 10]," alongside an animated poster welcoming him.

The drama surrounding Corbin Bosch's withdrawal has added a layer of tension to Zalmi's preparations. The PCB issued a formal legal notice to the 30-year-old South African, accusing him of breaching his contractual obligations. In an official statement, the PCB asserted, "South Africa's Corbin Bosch has been served a legal notice by the PCB alleging breach of the all-rounder's contractual obligations to the PCB."

Bosch's decision to exit the league in favour of an IPL contract with Mumbai Indians has reignited the debate over players prioritizing IPL over other T20 leagues. While PCB awaits his response, Zalmi has quickly moved on by reinforcing their squad with a promising overseas player.

The 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League is set to commence on April 11, with defending champions Islamabad United taking on Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The six-team tournament will feature 34 matches, culminating with the final on May 18.

With Owen now part of the squad, Peshawar Zalmi will look to put the off-field controversies behind them and focus on their title ambitions in PSL 2025.
