The match saw some thrilling moments, particularly in the battle of the top orders. Peshawar Zalmi, chasing down a daunting target, found themselves in trouble early on as their top order continued to misfire. The star-studded line-up, including the likes of Babar Azam, struggled to get going.
However, the pivotal moment of the match came when Mohammad Amir delivered a crucial breakthrough, removing Babar Azam with a brilliant delivery that had the entire stadium buzzing.
The wicket of the Pakistan captain was a turning point, as it not only silenced the Zalmi camp but also showcased Amir's exceptional skill in the big moments. Babar, having been in good form throughout the tournament, was dismissed at a critical juncture, leaving Zalmi with a lot of ground to cover.
Peshawar Zalmi's top-order woes have been a recurring theme this season, with key batters failing to convert starts into substantial innings. The Gladiators bowlers, particularly Amir, capitalised on this vulnerability, bowling tight spells and putting constant pressure on the batsmen. Despite a few solid contributions lower down the order, Zalmi never really managed to get the momentum they needed, and their chase remained stunted throughout.
As the match progressed, it became clear that Quetta Gladiators had the upper hand, with their bowlers executing plans to perfection. Peshawar Zalmi, who are struggling to find their rhythm at the top of the order, will need to regroup and address this persistent issue to stay in contention.
