PSL Draft 2025: Pakistan Pace Sensation 'boycotts' Pakistan Super League, calls franchises 'selfish people'

By MyKhel Staff

PSL Draft 2025: In a bold and emotional move, Pakistan's pace sensation Ihsanullah has announced his decision to boycott the Pakistan Super League (PSL), citing a lack of respect and recognition from franchises.

The young speedster, who was overlooked in the PSL 10 draft despite his stellar performances in the past, lashed out at the system, calling it a "selfish world with selfish people."

Ihsanullah boycotts PSL

The 22-year-old bowler, who had been a standout performer in previous editions, expressed his frustration and disappointment over the lack of recognition from PSL franchises. In an interview with Pakistan news channel Geo Super, Ihsanullah said, "Not a single franchise contacted me. If you perform, these franchises will come after you. My goal is to make them chase after me, and I need to perform like that." Determined to prove his critics wrong, the pacer added, "I'll bowl at a pace of 150-160, and those who said I'm a 130-135 bowler will see that I'm better than the one who played in PSL 8 and got injured."

The decision to step away from PSL comes after a challenging phase in Ihsanullah's career. Following a botched elbow surgery that left his arm permanently scarred, Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen shared grim updates about Ihsanullah's bowling future. "We consulted a top surgeon who said his arm will never be perfectly straight, and he'll never bowl the same way again," Tareen explained.

Ihsanullah, however, refused to let this narrative define his future. While acknowledging the setback, he criticised the cricketing world for its lack of loyalty. "It's a selfish world with selfish people. I don't want to play franchise cricket anymore. I completely boycott it and retire from the PSL," he declared.

Despite his retirement from PSL, Ihsanullah's focus remains on representing Pakistan. "I want to perform in domestic cricket and earn my place in the national team," he stated.

Ihsanullah's fiery performances in PSL 8, where he claimed 22 wickets in 12 matches at an economy rate of 7.59, remain a testament to his abilities. However, injuries and subsequent recovery challenges have seen him struggle to regain his peak form, which is evident from his recent outings in the Champions T20 Cup.
