PSL Eliminator 2 Result: Islamabad United Beat Peshawar Zalmi By Five Wickets To Reach Final

PSL Eliminator 2 Result: The PSL 2024 Eliminator 2 between Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United finished with a scorching win for Islamabad United over Peshawar Zalmi by five wickets at the National Stadium in Karachi on Saturday (March 16). Islamabad will play Multan on Monday in the Finals.

It was Peshawar Zalmi's game till the powerplay as they picked up four wickets at the score of 50. However, Imad Wasim (59 off 40 balls) held his end and kept the scoreboard ticking.

Imad grabbed the Player of the Match for his all-round performance. But it was Haider Ali's superb knock of 52 off 29 balls that took the game away from Peshawar. Saim Ayub (2/34) was the highest wicket-taker for Peshawar.

Islamabad won the toss and opted to field as Peshawar Zalmi came out to set the target. Peshawar started aggressively, as they were 59-0 after the powerplay, not repeating the last game's mistake. Saim Ayub took the initiative and got his team off to a flying start while Babar held the other end. Babar fell to Naseem Shah at the score of 25 in the seventh over.

Then Mohammad Haris came out to bat and formed a crucial partnership following the opening stand. Shadab Khan got out Saim Ayub after playing a magnificent knock of 73. Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Aamer Jamal and Hussain Talat chipped in and played little cameos down the order as Islamabad finished with a formidable total of 185/5. Naseem Shah (3/30) was the pick of the bowlers from Islamabad.

However, Islamabad United had the worst possible start to the chase as they were 50-4 within the powerplay. Target looked far from Peshawar as they lost their prime striker to Wood. However, Imad Wasim and Haider Ali had brilliant knocks that turned the tide in Islamabad's favour as they remained not out.

They went into the last five overs needing 57 runs, and then Haider just unleashed and started to hit the ball cleanly. Aamer Jamal was taken to the cleaners with 23 coming off the 18th over, bringing the rate down to a run-a-ball. After that, they needed 12 off the 12 balls but finished the game with six deliveries to spare and enter the finals.
