PSL Match Result: The PSL 2024 match 9 between Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi finished with an exciting win for Peshawar Zalmi by five runs at Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan on Thursday (February 23).
Peshawar Zalmi's bowlers pulled off a stunning win for the team by the closest margins over the unbeaten Multan Sultans and was their first win of the season. Luke Wood got a Player of the Match award for his all-round performance.

He played a little cameo (17 runs off 12 balls) down the order and took 2/13, including the wicket of in-form Mohammad Rizwan at duck. Every bowler was among the wickets from Zalmi's bowling lineup, Arif Yaqoob (3/43) was the highest wicket-taker.
Yasir Khan (43 runs off 37 balls) and Reeza Hendricks (28 runs off 27 balls) built the partnership after Rizwan got out early but couldn't gather momentum for their innings. Dawid Malan, however, tried to take the game away from the Zalmi's with his quick 52 runs off 25 balls, but spinner Yaqoob took two crucial wickets in the 17th over and turned the game in Zalmi's favour.
After winning the toss, Peshawar Zalmi, led by Babar Azam decided to put runs on the board for the Multan team to chase. They started adequately, scoring 46/1 within the powerplay, but Saim Ayub again failed to impress upfront. Even though they kept losing wickets at regular intervals, however, they kept the run rate perpetual.
Haseebullah Khan (37 runs off 18 balls) and Babar Azam (31 runs off 26 balls) were the highest run-scorer. The seven batters of Zalmi's batting lineup ended up in double digits and helped the team score a decent total of 179/8 (20 overs). Dawid Willey, Mohammad Ali and Usama Mir ended up with two wickets each for the Peshawar team.
On the other hand, Multan batters had a cautious start, scoring 38/1 in the six overs. The Sultan's strategy was to keep wickets in hand early on, as they were 93/2 in 12 overs, then go hard at the bowlers later.
Finally, the Englishman, Dawid Malan was among the runs after previous three disappointed outings. He was the highest run-scorer, along with Yasir Khan from the Sultan's batting lineup. Iftikhar Ahmed tried his best, but it was too much to ask for, in the end.
