The PSL 2024 match 8 between Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United finished with a spectacular win of three wickets (10 balls to spare) for Quetta at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Thursday (February 22).
This was Quetta Gladiators' third win in a row as Rilee Rossouw played a match-winning knock of 34 not out off 38 balls in a low-scoring thriller. The Gladiator's bowlers laid the foundation for the win.

Abrar Ahmed (3/18) and Mohammad Wasim Jr (3/20) were the highest wicket-takers among Quetta's bowling lineup as they restricted Islamabad United at 138/9. Agha Salman (33 runs off 23 balls) was the highest run-scorer for Islamabad.
Because of the short target of 139 runs, the Gladiators had the luxury of scoring gradually. Therefore, they got over the line in the 19th over of the match at the loss of seven wickets.
Jason Roy scored a quick 37 off 18 balls to give a quick start to Quetta in the chase but the top-order collapsed soon as Naseem Shah (2/34) and Shadab Khan (2/24) turned the game around with wickets at regular interval.
Quetta Gladiators opted to bowl after winning the toss and decided to chase. The Islamabad United batters started swiftly and scored (60/1) in the powerplay, even after losing Alex Hales in the 3rd over of the game.
After that, somehow, they lost the way and kept losing wickets. The United lost four more wickets in the next six overs, adding just 30 runs to their total. The Gladiator's bowlers never allowed the United batters to gain any momentum.
Except for Mohammad Amir, every bowler was among the wickets from Quetta's bowling lineup. Therefore, Islamabad United just managed to put up 138/9 (20 overs) on the board with the highest score of 33 runs from Salman Agha.
The Quetta batters tried to approach the chase aggressively but lost four wickets at the score of 59 runs within eight overs. However, Rilee Rossouw's partnership with Sherfane Rutherford saw the game through for Gladiators.
