PSL Qualifier Result: Multan Sultans Beat Peshawar Zalmi to Secure Spot in Final

PSL Qualifier Result: The PSL 2024 Qualifier between Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi finished with a win for Multan by seven wickets and reached the finals at the National Stadium in Karachi on Thursday (March 14).

Multan Sultan secured a thumping victory over Peshawar Zalmi as they reached the fourth final in a row. They are the most consistent team in PSL history. Rizwan's and Yasir's (54 off 37 balls) opening stand snuffed Peshawar out as Zalmi's needed early wickets to make a match of this.

Then Usman (36 off 28 balls) and Iftikhar (22 off 8 balls) took Multan over the line. It was Multan's bowlers who made the chase easier for them. Usama (Player of the Match) and Jordan got a couple of wickets each.

Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and decided to put runs on the board. They had a fairly moderate start to the run-scoring, as they were 51-2 after the powerplay. Saim Ayub got out to Willey early, but Babar and Haris managed to set up a decent partnership before Haris fell to Mohammad Ali. However, Sultans turned the screws after the powerplay, initially with spin and then with pace as the ball started to reverse.

Usama Mir with other spinners, bowled potently in the middle overs and kept the run rate below six runs per over. Then Jordan and Willey were superb in the death overs. If not for those Yorkers from the duo, it could have easily been 165 plus. It was an under-par score of 146-7 (20 overs). It was an almost perfect bowling performance on display from Multan.

Multan started the chase adequately as they scored 45-0 within the powerplay with the target in front of them. After Rizwan's departure, Yasir and Usman held their nerve and never let the game out of sight. Then Yasir fell to Mehran Mumtaz and Charles came to bat but struggled to get going. However, Iftikhar Ahmed came out and ended it quickly. Rizwan was brilliant as a captain today. The way he rotated his bowlers and with the field placements.
