Public Holiday In Karnataka After RCB's Win? How Did CM Siddaramaiah React After Historic Triumph?- Here's What We Know

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally ended their title drought by lifting their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy on June 3, defeating Punjab Kings by six runs in a nail-biting final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The win not only brought joy to fans across India after 18 long years but also sparked an interesting debate in Karnataka - will Honourable Chief Minister Siddaramaiah declare June 4 a public holiday to celebrate the victory?

RCB

Four days before the final, a passionate RCB fan penned a hand-written letter to CM Siddaramaiah, requesting him to declare a state-wide holiday if RCB lifted the trophy. The fan also urged the government to recognize the day as the "Karnataka State RCB Fans' Festival," an annual celebration comparable to Karnataka Rajyotsava. The letter emphasized Karnataka's love for cricket and the unshakable loyalty of RCB supporters since 2008.

Now that RCB has made history, the spotlight has shifted to the state government. Will Siddaramaiah heed the fan's request and announce a holiday to honor the team's triumph? While no official confirmation has been issued yet, reports suggest that a victory parade might take place in Bengaluru sometime in the evening on June 4.

Reacting to RCB's long-awaited win, CM Siddaramaiah congratulated the team on social media. "Congratulations to Royal Challengers Bengaluru on a historic IPL triumph! The dream has finally come true - Ee Sala Cup Namde! From electrifying performances to unshakable spirit, this triumph has ignited the pride of Karnataka and thrilled fans across the world," he wrote.

As for the match, RCB set a total of 190/9 with key contributions from Virat Kohli (43), Rajat Patidar (26), and Liam Livingstone (25). Punjab Kings, led by Josh Inglis and Shashank Singh, put up a strong fight but fell short at 184/7. Krunal Pandya's spell of 4-0-17-2 proved to be the turning point, stifling Punjab's momentum in the middle overs.

With celebrations underway, fans now await a potential holiday announcement-and possibly, a new annual tradition in Karnataka.
