Pujara, Jadeja put Saurashtra in strong position against Orissa

Rajkot, Nov 11 (UNI) Cheteshwar Pujara cracked unbeaten 302 runs and his fifth wicket record partneship of 520 runs with Ravindra Jadeja (232 not out) helped Saurashtra pile up 620 runs for four declared in their first innings on the second day of the four-day super league match against Orissa here today.

In reply Orissa were 46 for no loss when stumps were drawn.

Bikas Pati was batting on 29 while Skipper S S Das was batting on 13.

Pujara and Ravindra Jadejas' dominance was so praminant that Orissa seemed to have no clue on how to tackle them.

They tried out eight bowlers, but none of them could subdue them as both added 520 runs for their fifth wicket record partnership before hosts skipper Jaydev Shah declared the innings at 620 for four wickets as soon as Pujara completed his triple century and allowed visitors to play 15 overs.

Cheteswhar Pujara, who earlier hit two consecutive triple centuries against Maharashtra and Mumbai last month here in C K Nayudu Trophy, continued his dominance over the Orissa's bowlers as he struck 33 boundaries and three mighty sixes while facing 423 balls and stayed at the pitch for 603.

Pujara and Jadeja played no loose shots and were in perfect control of their strokes all round the wicket on batting track which is being used for the first time at the SCA stadium on the outskirts of the city.

Left hander Ravindra Jadeja was more aggressive then his partner and scored unbeaten 232 off 375 deliveries which contained 23 hits to the fence and two over the rope.

Orissa bowlers failed to grab a single wicket today, so as Saurashtra bowlers who had 15 overs 1-0 bowl in last session.

Openers-Bikas Pati and skipper S S Das added 46 runs for the first wicket without being seperated at the end of the second day.

BRIEF SCORE: Saurashtra Ist Innings 620 for four declared in 162.5 overs (Cheteswar Pujara not out 302 and Ravindra Jadeja not out 232 B Mohanty two for 90, D Mohanty one for 48 and N Behera one for 102).

Orissa Ist Innings 46 for no loss (B Pati not out 29 and S S Das not out 13).
