Punjab Shiv Sena unit to organise cricket tournament for youth
Jalandhar, Feb 21 (UNI) Punjab unit of Shiv Sena (Bal Thackeray) is organising the first Shiv Sena Cricket Tournament here at Burlton Park from February 26 to March 14 in a bid to woo them away from destructive habits.
''The Shiv Sena decided to organise the cricket tournament in order to divert the attention of Punjabi youth toward sports from the drugs and other such addictions,'' State Organising Secretary Naresh Soni told mediapersons here today.
At least 16 teams, including from Chandigarh, Ludhiana, and Sangrur, would participate in the state-level cricket tournament, he said.
Mr Soni said the winning team would be awarded cash prize of Rs 15,000 and a trophy, while the runner-up team would get a trophy along with cash prize of Rs 5,100.
