Pakistan cricket team are well on course to crash out of the T20 World Cup 2024 and the flash flood emergency in Florida is very likely to play a huge role in it.
The office of the National Weather Service in Florida has already issued a flash flood emergency amid the heavy rainfall. The Miami weather service office has also issued increasingly dire warnings. Life-threatening flooding is now ongoing, the service said on X (formerly known as Twitter). Please stay off the roadways and get to higher ground.

Alarming visuals of lightning, heavy rainfalls, water-logging on the streets and vehicles floating have surfaced online. Dozens of flights were delayed or canceled at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. NHL side Florida Panthers were delayed more than three hours from departing Fort Lauderdale for their nearly six-hour flight to Edmonton for Games 3 and 4 of the Stanley Cup Final.
The ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 matches and qualification chances of teams for the Super 8 round is also set to be affected by the flood conditions in Florida. The Sri Lankan team are already stranded in the city after their match against Nepal was abandoned on Wednesday due to rain.
The Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida is set to host three games in a span of three days. It will be hosting USA's match against Ireland on Friday (June 12), India vs Ireland on Saturday (June 15) and Pakistan vs Ireland on Sunday (June 16).
Heavier rainfall has already been predicted on Thursday and Friday. USA would qualify for the Super 8 round even if the match against Ireland is abandoned on Friday. They will finish the group stage with five points in four matches after sharing a point with Ireland in case the match is called off.
Pakistan can qualify only if Ireland beat USA, and they register a win against Ireland in their last Group A match. India have already qualified for the Super 8 after their seven-wicket win over USA on Wednesday. Notably, only the top two teams from each of the four groups will move to the Super 8 of T20 World Cup 2024.
Canada are placed fourth in Group B, and have the lowest chance of qualifying for the Super 8. They will have to hope for USA and Pakistan to lose their respective matches and then beat India by a big margin.
