Quetta Gladiators injury update, key players in PSL 2023

No new injury update has been reported from the Quetta Gladiators and head into the game with a big loss of 63 runs against Lahore Qalandars. Placed bottom after losing three of their four matches, the 2019 PSL champions are fast becoming the bogey team of the 2023 season.

The team management shuffled their opening combination but little changed as Martin Guptill has gone silent after scoring a century in his first match. The subsequent innings saw him score discolour 16-ball 12 and 18-ball 15. His new partner Abdul Bangalzai disappointed again with a golden duck and could be dropped for the game as this was his second duck this PSL as he is yet to touch the double-digit.

Jason Roy, demoted to No. 3, looked at home in his new position as he scored 30-ball 48, laced with 5 sixes.

There are plenty of concerns as far as their domestic batting is concerned as Muhammad Nawaz hasn't been any better than Bangalzai in the middle-order. Nawaz, however, took a wicket in the game and could continue to keep his spot in the team as an all-rounder. Iftikhar Ahmed, who scored 50 in the last game, showed no consistency with an innings of 6.

Mohammad Hafeez scored a 22-ball 25 but couldn't reignite the chase. Down the order, Odean Smith (9) and Sarfaraz Ahmed (16*) failed to make an impact during a big chase of 198.

Among bowlers, Naseem Shah, who proved economical in PSL 2023 so far, went for 47 runs in the last game, which is more than his last two matches combined. Muhammad Hasnain maintained consistency with a spell of 32/1, taking his wicket tally to six in the season for Quetta.

Afghan leg-spinner Qais Ahmed took two wickets for 36 while taking his tally to four wickets in three games. Odean Smith, who proved costly in the last game, gave away 41 runs but changed his wicket column twice in the game.

Muhammad Hafeez bowled the opening over but failed at it by giving away 14 runs. He wasn't asked to bowl again.

Islamabad United injury update, key players

Islamabad United have reported no injuries before the game too and comes into the game after handing a sound defeat to Peshawar Zalmi.

Inclusion of Rahmanullah Gurbaz in place of misfiring opener Paul Stirling worked as the Afghan fired a 31-ball 62, allowing Islamabad to score 100 runs inside the 10 overs in the chase. Rassie van Der Dussen continued with his strong form with a 43-run knock, taking his run tally to 123 in three games.

Colin Munro, however, had an off-day with a knock of just 9. Asif Ali made the chase further comfortable with his first crucial knock of the season at 13-ball 29 as Islamabad won the game by the 15th over.

Wicket-keeper Azam Khan continued with his finisher role with a 6-ball 9. Shadab Khan's poor run continues with the bat as he scored just three and has accumulated just four runs this PSL. The skipper, however, bowled an above-par 1/26 with the ball after leaking 82 runs in the first two games.

English all-rounder Tom Curran went wicketless while giving away 30 runs. Fellow all-rounder Faheem Ashraf bowled a 1/28 in three overs. The duo didn't get to bat in the game.

Among other bowlers, Rumman Raees went for 1/30 in his full quota of overs and now has four wickets in three games and has a good economy rate.

Mohammad Wasim lost his place in the playing 11 after a poor show in the last game and was replaced by Hassan Ali, who took 3/35 to consolidate his spot.

Spinner Abrar Ahmed was dropped as well after failing to take a wicket in the last game and was replaced by Mubasir Khan, who just bowled one over for five runs.

Quetta Gladiators vs Islamabad United pitch report QUE vs ISL

Karachi's National Stadium has turned drier and two-paced with every passing game. The wicket is not so easy to bat on anymore, especially when the ball turns old or the pace is taken off. However, dew has played a role in the second innings, making it easier to bat on.
