Quetta Gladiators injury update, key players in PSL 2023

Quetta Gladiators have made no new injury update since the franchise announced Mohammad Hafeez as the replacement for injured Ahsan Ali in the team.

Quetta Gladiators will have to shrug off their disappointment as they lost a match to Peshawar Zalmi less than 24 hours ago at the same venue. Among the positives from the game, their captain Sarfaraz Ahmed played a knock of 39 while Iftikhar Ahmed continued his good show with his first half-century of PSL.

New Zealand opener Martin Guptill, who scored a century in the game prior, could only score 1 16-ball 12 on a surface that looked dryer than usual. Jason Roy struggled as well with an off-colour 23-ball 14 after scoring 18-ball 27 in the first game of the season.

Muhammad Nawaz had an off day as well with an innings of just two runs while Odean Smith played a cameo of 12-ball 25 in the slog overs.

Likes of Mohammad Hafeez, who came in for Umar Akmal, and Abdul Bangalzai didn't get to bat in the match while question mark remains over their forms.

Among bowlers, Naseem Shah continued with his clinical bowling show as he gave away just 19 runs in four overs. In his last 10 overs in PSL, the pacer gave away just 54 runs. Muhammad Hasnain bowled a strong spell too as he picked 3/13 in his full quota of overs.

Among bowlers, Naseem Shah has bowled well with an economic performance on a surface that is idle for batting and has given away 35 runs in his last six overs. Muhammad Hasnain took two wickets as well and scored 20-ball 22 a game earlier.

Afghan leg spinner Qais Ahmad, who bowled a good spell of 1/29 in the game before, proved costly with 41 runs in four overs but managed to pick a wicket again. Nawaz had a bad day with the ball too as he gave away 48 runs in 3.3 overs and was the weakest link in the defeat. Odean flopped with the ball as well by giving away 27 runs in two overs.

Lahore Qalandars injury update, key players

Lahore Qalandars have no injury concerns heading into the game as well but Rashid Khan will join the franchise with Sam Billings leaving the franchise for the Afghan spinner. The franchise is currently placed bottom of the six-team table.

Their star opener Fakhar Zaman had an offday in the last game as he scored 15 after hitting 66 earlier. Mirza Tahir Baig continued his form with a 39-ball 55 after scoring 32 before.

Shai Hope scored just 1 while Kamran Ghulam got some runs with a 22-ball 23 while Sikandar Raza played another cameo of 18 runs off 12 balls. The Zimbabwean scored 14-ball 19 in the game earlier. Hussain Talat had an off day with 2 off 4 but remains a handy option in the slog overs.

David Wiese and Liam Dawson couldn't make crucial contributions with the bat so far lower down the order. Wiese is expected to make space for Rashid in the next game.

Among bowlers, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Zaman Khan take two wickets each in two games. Rauf proved a bit costly as he gave away 72 runs in eight overs while slow bowlers David Wiese and Raza haven't been effective yet.

However, spinners are expected to play a major role in PSL in the upcoming games with pitches getting older.

With the number of matches increasing, the National Stadium pitch has turn on the offer for the spinners, making their selection more necessary for the coming games. However, batting in the second innings could become a norm with heavy dew making it easier to chase.
