Ravichandran Ashwin, the Dindigul Dragons captain and veteran India all-rounder, has been fined 30% of his match fee for misconduct during a Tamil Nadu Premier League clash against Tiruppur Tamizhans on Sunday (June 8) in Coimbatore.
Ashwin's penalty comprises a 10% deduction for showing dissent towards the umpire's decision and an additional 20% for misuse of cricket equipment during the TNPL 2025 match.

The incident unfolded in the fifth over of Dindigul's innings when Ashwin was given out LBW off R Sai Kishore while attempting a sweep. Replays indicated the ball may have pitched outside leg stump, but Dindigul had already exhausted both reviews on wide-ball calls, leaving Ashwin without a recourse to challenge the decision.
Ashwin appeared visibly agitated, immediately confronting on-field umpire Kritika and pointing toward the pitch in disagreement. As he walked back, he struck his pads with the bat in frustration and later flung his gloves after reaching the dugout. A TNPL official confirmed the sanctions while speaking with Cricbuzz.
"There was a hearing conducted by the match referee after the game. He (Ashwin) accepted the sanctions after a hearing conducted by the match referee," he was quoted as saying.
Ashwin, who is known for his outbursts of emotions, didn't portray a decent picture with his act. The former India player has been a stalwart in the game, but the recent incident left a poor reflection.
