Bengaluru, August 1: The thumping victory Virat Kohli and his band scored over Sri Lanka in the opening Test at Galle helped several Indian players gain vital points and rise in the latest ICC Test rankings releasde on Tuesday (August 1).
Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has leapfrogged Sri Lanka's Rangana Herath to wrest back the second position among bowlers.

It was an India 1-2 in the rankings as left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja retained the top spot.
Opener Shikhar Dhawan's 190 and 14 in the Galle Test has lifted him 21 slots to 39th position.

Sri Lanka all-rounder Angelo Mathews has gained two places to reach 17th position after scores of 83 and two in the first Test.
Batsman Dimuth Karunaratne (up three places to 36th) and pace bowler Nuwan Pradeep (up three places to a career-best 30th) are the others to move up the rankings for Sri Lanka.
