Rachin Ravindra was named ICC's Emerging Player of the Year for 2023 on Thursday, January 25. The New Zealand all-rounder was in contest with South Africa pacer Gerald Coetzee, Sri Lanka pacer Dilshan Madushanka and India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal for the prestigious award.
Rachin Ravindra made major headlines after scoring 578 runs in 10 matches at an average of 64.22 and a strike rate of 106.44. The 24-year-old hit three hundreds and finished as the fourth-highest run-scorer in the series.

"It's obviously a very special feeling. Whenever you get recognised by the ICC for something it is always special. Reflecting back it has been a pretty whirlwind last year and having the opportunity to play so much cricket in so many different environments has been very special," the southpaw said after winning the award.

The Wellington-born Indian-origin cricketer made his ODI debut in March 2023 against Sri Lanka in Auckland. Since then he has featured in 25 matches and scored 820 runs at an average of 41 and a strike rate of 108.03.
Before the start of the World Cup 2023, Rachin Ravindra top-scored for New Zealand with 61 off 48 balls while batting at number seven against England in the fourth ODI at Lord's. Even through New Zealand were bundled out for 211 and lost the match by 100 runs, Ravindra managed to show the glimpses of his potential.
He was promoted in the World Cup 2023 and opened the innings for New Zealand throughout the event. Ravindra has also featured in 19 T20Is and three Test matches for India.
