Rachin Ravindra has set the World Cup 2023 ablaze with his magnificent batting in the opening match against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday (October 5).
The southpaw, who is playing his first-ever World Cup match, has batted with a premium flair and has dismantled the highly rated England bowling attack. Earlier, he also took up the responsibility of bowling and bowled his full quota of overs.

Although he went for a few runs, Ravindra picked up the crucial wicket of Harry Brook. The curly-haired player has made a meteoric rise, especially in the ODI format. He made his debut in May this year and has shown enough class to be drafted into the World Cup squad for the Black Caps.
Rachin has scored his maiden ODI century at the biggest stage of cricket. The batter scored an unbeaten 123 as the Black Caps registered a comprehensive victory over defending champions in the first match of the World Cup 2023.
Rachin Ravindra is a 23-year-old cricketer who plays for New Zealand. Ravindra is predominantly a left-handed batter who can also bowl a bit of left-arm orthodox spin. He was born to Indian parents in Wellington.
Ravindra was identified as a special talent in the Kiwi domestic circuit and has played through the age ranks for New Zealand.
Rachin Ravindra's name has a fantastic anecdote behind it. Rachin's father, Mr. Ravindra Krishnamurthy was born in Bangalore and used to play college level cricket in the Southern State of India. He is a software architecht and is a massive fan of Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar.

When Rachin was born, his father decided to combine two of his favourite cricketers' name into his own son, and thus Rachin got his name as a hybrid of Rahul and Sachin, with the RA being taken from the Indian coach, and CHIN coming from the God of Cricket.
Rachin Ravindra spent the summer of 2019 in India and actually watched New Zealand play the Final against England at a Bengaluru bar. The Southpaw was cheering for his nation from India as a fan for the 2019 Final, and now he has scored his maiden ODI hundred on Indian soil in a World Cup.
"It is actually quite a story. My dad takes a bunch of age group boys to India (annually) and we were in Bangalore on a senior trip. We were watching the final (2019) in a stock exchange bar.
"I watched the whole final. It was unbelievable and such a rollercoaster experience with the high and lows of the game. Having Indian supporters around us was pretty cool. It is an experience I will never forget," Ravindra told PTI.
