Rahul Dravid answered captain Sanju Samson's call in style after being named as the Rajasthan Royals head coach on Friday, September 6. In a promotional video shared by Rajasthan Royals official social media handles, Dravid can be seen answering Samson's call by saying, "Hello captain!"
The former India captain, whose stint at Team India head coach ended with the T20 World Cup 2024 triumph on June 29, is making a comeback at Rajasthan Royals. He served as the team's captain in 2012 and 2013, and was the mentor in 2014 and 2015.

Rajasthan Royals announced Rahul Dravid's big announcement with a series of posts which also confirmed that Sanju Samson would be retained by the franchise ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction, and Kumar Sangakkara would continue as the Director of Cricket.
Earlier, reports had emerged that Sangakkara could be appointed as the new mentor of IPL 2024 champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The post is vacant after Gautam Gambhir took over the charge as Team India head coach.
Rahul Dravid shares a long-standing relationship with Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson, who came through U-19 cricket under the watch of Rahul Dravid, and was also part of India's 2024 T20 World Cup-winning team coached by the former great.
Rajasthan Royals have been eyeing their first trophy since 2008 when they won the title under Shane Warne. The side finished as the runners-up in 2022, and qualified for the playoffs in 2024 as well. However, the coveted continue to elude them.
Dravid is expected to end the drought just like how he helped senior India men's cricket team win their first World Cup after 13 years. The batting great has reportedly already discussed on player retentions ahead of the upcoming season.
