India head coach Rahul Dravid's contract is likely not to be renewed. Dravid's contract with the Indian team expired after the World Cup 2023 Final and it is highly likely that the Final defeat was Dravid's last match as India coach.
Upon his contract expiration, it has been reported that the former India player has decided to not continue anymore.

According to reports, Dravid's former India teammate and close friend VVS Laxman is set to take over the coaching role next. Laxman is already acting as the India coach for their ongoing five-match T20I series against Australia.
Laxman, who is also the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, has previously worked as the India coach as well. He took over interim duty in the Ireland series a couple of months ago.
Dravid's tenure ended in heartbreak and reports say he is not keen to take up the role as it involves a lot of travelling. There are reports that Dravid is in talks with a couple of IPL teams, whereas a role in the NCA is also seen as a possibility.
Laxman can be announced as the permanent head coach within or just after the Australia series, and South Africa series is likely to be his first assignment as permanent India head coach.
