Former Indian cricket star and head coach Rahul Dravid, concluding his two-year tenure as head coach of the Indian cricket team after their ODI World Cup 2023 exit, is purportedly on the verge of joining the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as a mentor for the upcoming IPL 2024.
Reports suggest that the ex-India captain, known for his coaching stints with Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals, is inclined towards a mentorship role rather than extending his contract with the national team.

Lucknow Super Giants, led by KL Rahul, bid farewell to Gautam Gambhir and is actively seeking a new mentor. Dravid reportedly has offers from both LSG and his previous franchise, the Rajasthan Royals.
However, LSG is said to have presented an enticing deal, making it likely for the legendary cricketer to align with the Lucknow-based franchise.
LSG made its IPL debut in 2022, reaching the playoffs in both 2022 and 2023 but faltering in the eliminator matches on both occasions. After the departure of Gambhir and head coach Andy Flower, who joined Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore respectively, LSG signed former Australian head coach Justin Langer as Flower's replacement. Dravid is now poised to step into the mentor's role vacated by Gambhir.
Recent reports suggest that Dravid, having declined an extension as India's head coach, conveyed his decision to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The cricket board is reportedly considering appointing Dravid's former teammate and batting legend VVS Laxman as the new head coach for the Indian team.
In the IPL landscape, the potential addition of Rahul Dravid as a mentor for Lucknow Super Giants adds a seasoned cricket mind to the coaching staff. Dravid's wealth of experience, both as a player and a coach, could prove instrumental for LSG as they aim for a more successful IPL campaign in 2024.
