Wicketkeeper-batter Anvay Dravid, son of former Indian captain and current Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid, has made his mark in Karnataka's cricketing circles.
On Saturday (November 9), he was named in the 35-member probable list for the Karnataka squad in the upcoming Under-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy, set to start on December 6.

Anvay, one of three wicketkeepers shortlisted, will be vying for a spot alongside Aditya Jha and Joy James, bringing added competition to the role. His selection is a testament to his promising talent and performances at the junior level.
Anvay recently captured attention with a stellar unbeaten double century (200*) for Bangalore Zone against Tumkur Zone in the KSCA Under-16 Inter-Zonal tournament.
This impressive knock not only showcased his batting potential but also highlighted his leadership skills, as he previously captained Karnataka's Under-14 team in last year's inter-zone meet.
While Anvay gears up for the Vijay Merchant Trophy, his elder brother Samit Dravid is also making strides in Karnataka cricket. Samit, a medium-pace all-rounder, is currently part of the Karnataka squad competing in the Cooch Behar Trophy against Baroda.
In a recent match, Samit made a determined 71 off 141 balls, featuring 11 fours, but Karnataka ultimately fell to Baroda by a large margin, an innings and 212 runs.
The coaching staff for Karnataka's Under-16 squad in the Vijay Merchant Trophy will be led by former state players Kunal Kapoor and Adithya B Sagar, who will serve as the head coach and bowling coach, respectively. Their experience is expected to be invaluable for the young players looking to make an impact at the tournament.
In a separate development, Rahul Dravid, in his role as Rajasthan Royals head coach, recently shed light on the franchise's retention strategy for IPL 2025. Dravid confirmed that Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson played an integral role in the retention discussions.
Samson, a skilled wicketkeeper-batter and trusted leader, was retained along with a core group including Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, and Sandeep Sharma.
