IPL 2023: Rahul Tewatia's diving catch to help Alzarri Joseph dismiss Rilee Rossouw for a golden duck stuns fa

IPL 2023: Rahul Tewatia's forward diving catch to help Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer Alzarri Joseph dismiss Delhi Capitals (DC) batter Rilee for a golden duck at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday has set the social media on fire.

On the third ball of the ninth over, the West Indies pacer surprised the South Africa star with a short delivery. As Rossouw tried to fend the ball awkwardly, a catch popped up towards backward point. Tewatia, who was already standing a few yards inside the circle, dived forward to grab a low catch.

The umpires checked with the third umpire who confirmed that Tewatia had picked a blinder. The wicket was second in the over from Alzarri. On the first ball of the over, Delhi captain David Warner ended up chopping the delivery onto the stumps.

Harsha Bhogle, who was commentating duty on Star Sports, when Tewatia grabbed the stunner was thrilled at the sight. Here is how fans reacted to the catch from the 29-year-old.

Earlier, Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya won the match and elected to bowl first. Prithvi Shaw and Mitchell Marsh again failed to get going and got out inside the first five overs for seven and four runs respectively. Warner got out after scoring 37 off 32 balls.

The match also witnessed the debut of 20-year-old Abishek Porel who has been named as the replacement for Rishabh Pant who arrived at the stadium in crutches to cheer for his team. Pant was ruled out of IPL 2023 as he is still recovering from the injuries he suffered during the fatal car crash in December.

Delhi lost their first match to Lucknow Super Giants by 50 runs on Saturday. Gujarat are aiming for their second consecutive win of the season.
