MI vs DC: Mumbai Indians (MI) are gearing up for a critical face-off against Delhi Capitals (DC) in a high-stakes IPL 2025 encounter that could decide a playoff berth.
With MI currently on 14 points and DC just behind on 13, both sides have played 12 matches each and have two fixtures remaining. A win for Mumbai would secure their spot in the top four, while Delhi must avoid a loss to keep their postseason hopes intact.

However, the much-anticipated showdown at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium is under the threat of rain, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for the city starting Tuesday evening, expected to last four days. This weather warning has raised serious concerns about the match proceeding as planned.
In response, Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal has formally requested the BCCI to consider relocating the fixture to another city to avoid a washout. In an email obtained by ESPNcricinfo, Jindal pointed out that the RCB vs SRH match was previously moved from Bengaluru to Lucknow due to poor weather and urged the board to take a similar step for fairness.
"The forecast in Mumbai is for heavy rains and there is a strong likelihood that the game will be washed out," Jindal wrote. He further added, "Just as the game between RCB vs SRH has been moved out of Bengaluru in the quest for consistency and in the interest of the league it is my request that tomorrow's game also be moved to a different location as we have known for the better part of 6 days that the forecast for 21st in Mumbai is for heavy showers."
On Tuesday evening, Mumbai experienced heavy rainfall beginning around 8 PM, disrupting DC's training session and forcing KL Rahul to wrap up early. MI had fortunately completed their practice before the showers began, though dark clouds loomed over the Wankhede throughout the evening.
Should the match be abandoned due to weather, both teams would share a point each. That would take Mumbai to 15 points and Delhi to 14, making their respective final league matches decisive.
MI are scheduled to play Punjab Kings at home on May 26, while DC will take on the same opponents at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on May 24.
As it stands, Mumbai sit fourth with seven wins, while Delhi are fifth with six victories and one no result. All eyes will now be on the skies, with playoff dreams hanging in the balance.
