Rain wins as India lose No. 1 Test rank to Pakistan

Bengaluru, Aug 22: India have lost their number one Test rank to Pakistan today (August 22) after the 4th and final Test against West Indies ended in a draw due to rain.

On August 17, India rose to number one spot in ICC Test Rankings after Sri Lanka whitewashed Australia 3-0. However, Virat Kohli-led side had to win the 4th Test against West Indies to retain the top spot. (Feels great to be No. 1: Misbah)

India's chance of retaining the numero uno position was spoilt by rain for 4 days in a row in Port of Spain. However, India clinched the series against West Indies 2-0. India are now 2nd in the ICC Rankings.

For the first time (since the introduction of rankings in 2003), Pakistan have become the number one Test side in the world. They drew 2-2 against England recently to gain valubale points.

It is a massive achievement for Misbah-ul-Haq-led Pakistan to rise to number one after having not Tests at home for 7 years.

Apart from Zimbabwe (in May 2015), no Test team has travelled to Pakistan to play since the Sri Lankan team was attacked by terrorists in March 2009 in Lahore.
