Rains threaten to take over final Test
Dhaka, May 24 (UNI) Heavy rains threatened to take its toll on the opening day of the second and last Test between India and Bangladesh starting here tomorrow.
Rain, accompanied by thunderstorm, hit the city with full fury this evening. There was waterlogging at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, the venue for the match.
Though the gruond has an excellent drainage system and built with advice from West Australia curator Richard Winter, it is unlikely that the match will commence on time tomorrow.
The rains have run amock during the entire series and not a single day has gone unaffected by showers.
The first two ODIs had to be curtailed, while the third was a complete washout. More than 15 hours of playing time was lost in the first Test at Chittagong which petered out to a tame draw.
The sports buffs here, encouraged by the earlier weather forecast of bright sunshine over the next few days, are hoping to finally enjoy a rain-free game of cricket.
