The Rajasthan High Court has refused to stay the arrest of Yash Dayal, a pace bowler for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League, in connection with a rape case involving a minor. The court cited the gravity of the accusations and the age of the victim, asserting that interim protection cannot be granted in such circumstances.
Justice Sudesh Bansal, who is presiding over the matter in Jaipur, has demanded the case diary for further review and listed the matter for the next hearing on August 22.

Representing Dayal, advocate Kunal Jaiman argued that the case is part of a targeted effort to malign the cricketer. He highlighted that a similar complaint had earlier been filed in Ghaziabad, which was subsequently stayed by the Allahabad High Court. "Just seven days after that, another FIR was registered in Jaipur. A gang seems to be involved in blackmailing by filing such cases," he told the court.
Despite these claims, the Jaipur police maintain that the accusations are serious and grounded in fact. According to Sanganer police station in-charge Anil Jaiman, the complainant-a minor at the time-first met Dayal during a cricket-related event. She later alleged that he sexually assaulted her around two years ago, promising to support her in building a cricket career.
The complaint further states that during the IPL 2025 season, Dayal allegedly invited her to a hotel in Sitapura, Jaipur, where another instance of sexual assault occurred. Since the girl was 17 at the time of the initial incident, charges have been framed under applicable sections of the Indian Penal Code along with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
This is not the first time Dayal has been in the spotlight for controversy. Two years ago, he was accused of sharing offensive communal content on Instagram. At the time, he clarified that while the posts were made from his account, he did not personally upload them.
With legal proceedings ongoing, Dayal's immediate future remains clouded in uncertainty.
