Rajat Patidar Headlines 3 RCB Players Pushing for India T20I Spots After IPL 2026
Royal Challengers Bengaluru's march to a second consecutive IPL final has been built on standout individual performances across departments. While established names like Virat Kohli have once again delivered, several RCB players have strengthened their claims for a place in India's T20I setup with exceptional campaigns.

With India likely to continue rotating squads during bilateral series and overseas tours, here are three RCB players who have done enough in IPL 2026 to force their way into the selectors' conversation.
Rajat Patidar impossible to ignore
Rajat Patidar has been the face of RCB's aggressive transformation this season. Leading the franchise while batting in the middle order, Patidar has combined leadership with match-winning consistency.
His defining moment came in Qualifier 1 against Gujarat Titans, where he turned the game on its head with a breathtaking innings. After scoring 14 runs from his first 10 deliveries, Patidar exploded for 79 runs off his next 23 balls, finishing with a knock that effectively sealed RCB's place in the final.
The numbers back up his impact. Patidar has scored 486 runs this season at a strike rate of 196.76, among the highest for any middle-order batter in the competition. Unlike many power-hitters who operate at the top of the order, Patidar has produced these returns while frequently arriving after the powerplay and facing different match situations.
His challenge remains the depth of India's middle-order options. Suryakumar Yadav continues to occupy a similar role, while Shreyas Iyer has also built a strong case through consistent IPL performances over the last two seasons. However, Patidar's ability to attack spin, accelerate against pace and absorb pressure makes him a compelling option for India's T20 plans.
If RCB complete a successful title defence, his omission from future T20 squads would become increasingly difficult to justify.
Rasikh Salam India's next death-overs specialist?
While batters often dominate headlines, Rasikh Salam has quietly put together one of the most impressive fast-bowling campaigns of IPL 2026.
The Jammu & Kashmir pacer has developed into a genuine T20 specialist capable of operating in the most demanding phases of an innings. His ability to bowl close to 140 km/h, execute yorkers consistently, and mix multiple slower-ball variations has made him a difficult proposition for opposition batters.
Unlike many young fast bowlers who rely on one variation, Rasikh possesses several slower-ball options, including cutters and back-of-the-hand deliveries that have repeatedly disrupted set batters.
His standout performance of 4 for 24 against Lucknow Super Giants showcased his ability to deliver under pressure, particularly in the middle and death overs, where T20 matches are often decided.
What strengthens his case further is his game awareness. Rasikh has demonstrated the ability to bowl to specific plans, adjust fields, and respond to match situations rather than relying purely on pace.
India's fast-bowling depth remains immense, but specialists capable of consistently delivering at the death are always in demand. Rasikh's skill set aligns perfectly with modern T20 cricket, making him a strong candidate for future opportunities.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar deserves another look
At 36, Bhuvneshwar Kumar may not fit the profile of a long-term prospect, but few Indian seamers have had a more impactful IPL 2026 campaign.
Leading the Purple Cap race for much of the season, Bhuvneshwar has combined wicket-taking ability with trademark control, proving that experience remains invaluable in T20 cricket.
His dominance over Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill in Qualifier 1 once again highlighted his class. Across their IPL meetings, Bhuvneshwar has dismissed Gill six times in 14 innings while conceding only 80 runs from 79 deliveries. Gill averages just 13.33 and strikes at barely 101.26 against him.
Those numbers are remarkable against one of the world's premier T20 batters.
Beyond individual match-ups, Bhuvneshwar's powerplay effectiveness and ability to execute yorkers at the death remain among the best in the league. In a format where India continue to search for reliable new-ball operators alongside Jasprit Bumrah, his experience could still prove valuable, particularly during squad rotation periods.
While a full-scale international comeback may be unlikely, his IPL performances have shown he remains capable of competing at the highest level.
RCB success built on players knocking on India's door
RCB's run to another IPL final has not been driven by one superstar alone. Patidar has anchored the batting unit, Rasikh has emerged as a specialist death bowler and Bhuvneshwar has rolled back the years with a vintage campaign.
Whether India choose immediate opportunities or gradual integration, all three have produced the kind of performances that deserve serious consideration ahead of the next phase of the national team's T20 plans.
