“We’re Here to Attack…”: Rajat Patidar Backs RCB’s Aggressive Mindset Ahead of Qualifier 1 vs GT
Dharamsala, May 25: Ahead of the high-stakes encounter, Rajat Patidar, captain of defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru, spoke about the team's mindset and their approach to handling pressure in crucial moments. The team will be facing the 2022 IPL champions, the Gujarat Titans, in Qualifier 1 at the HPCA stadium.
The two sides competed toe-to-toe against each other in the league stages of the season and ended up sharing spoils. While Bengaluru was able to claim victory by five wickets in their home, the Titans secured a 4-wicket victory in the reverse fixture.

Now on the edge of glory once again, Patidar feels that composure could be the thing that separates both teams. "Both teams have done really well throughout the season. On the given day, whichever team executes their plans better, plays better cricket, and stays calmer under pressure, I think that team will win the match," Patidar said during the pre-match.
The RCB skipper further added that reaching this phase of the tournament is very big and the team should hold on to their nerves and stick to the plans.
RCB vs GT: Patidar's Firm Belief On Bowling Unit
Rajat Patidar highlighted Royal Challengers Bengaluru's bowling unit as one of the side's biggest strengths this season and reiterated the aggressive approach that has defined their campaign.
He stated that the team's strength lay in its bowling and emphasised that their performance in the powerplay would be crucial. He added that the players were clear about their intent, noting that they were not looking to defend but to attack, with a focus on picking up early wickets. He also pointed out that bowlers like Bhuvneshwar, Hazlewood, and Rasikh had been executing that approach effectively, and expressed hope that the team would continue in the same manner.
Special Mention For Venkatesh Iyer
Rajat Patidar also mentioned the transition of Venkatesh Iyer into the team and praised him following his recent knocks of 73* and 44.
Speaking about his teammate, Patidar highlighted Iyer's adaptability and mindset, noting that he had known him since childhood and admired the way he carried himself. He pointed out that Iyer's ability to handle different match situations and his flexibility in the batting order reflected a commendable attitude.
Patidar further added that Iyer had remained prepared even during phases when he wasn't getting opportunities, putting in consistent effort during training and maintaining clear communication. He remarked that once Iyer got his chance, he made the most of it.
