Bengaluru, November 21: Remember Raman Lamba? The Delhi right-hander was a prototype of the modern day bashers, always looking to score quickly and fast between wickets.
Lamba and Kris Srikkanth, another dashing bat of the 80s, had some thrilling alliances, especially against Australia that gave us the glimpse of the way cricket would be played later.
However, Lamba was not fortunate enough to live long to see the evolution of cricket. He died in 1998 at the age of 38 after a ball banged on to his head while playing league cricket in Bangladesh.
Now, the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association has suitably honoured Lamba by naming the players' pavilion as 'Raman Lamba Dressing Room.' The third Test between India and Sri Lanka will be played at the Feorzeshah Kotla.
This was the second time DDCA is initiating a step to honour greats from the state.
Recently, they had dedicated one of the entrances to the Ferozshah Kotla stadium to Virender Sehwag.
Lamba's record
Test: 4, Runs: 102, Avg: 20.40, 50: 1
ODIs: 32, Runs: 783, Avg: 27; 100: 1, 50: 6
First-class: Matches: 121, Runs: 8776, Avg: 53.86, 100: 31, 50: 27, Hs: 320.
