Ranatunga, De Silva laud Kumble's milestone

New Delhi, Jan 17 (UNI) Former Sri Lanka captain Arjuna Ranatunga and his ex-teammate Aravinda de Silva today congratulated Anil Kumble for reaching the milestone of 600 Test wickets.

''He has been a great servant of Indian cricket and has rendered a yeoman service to the team,'' Ranatunga said.

''Whether it's at home or abroad, he has always given more than 100 per cent and thoroughly deserves the milestone,'' he added.

De Silva echoed his former skipper,''It's not an easy thing to achieve. He has worked so hard in his career and has been India's main strike bowler for quite a while.'' Kumble, who achieved the feat in 124 matches at an average of 28.68, entered an elite club comprising Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan (723) and retired Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne (708).
