Ranji Cricketer from Bengal Booked in Lucknow Over Alleged Sexual Exploitation: What We Know So Far

A domestic cricketer who plays for Bengal, has been booked by Lucknow Police following a woman's complaint alleging sexual exploitation on the promise of marriage.

The case has been registered at the Ashiana police station, with the allegations now being investigated by the police.

The cricketer, whose identity has not been disclosed here for legal purposes, is a bowler who has represented Bengal across all three formats of domestic cricket. He will turn 30 later this year and has established himself as a regular part of Bengal's domestic setup.

According to the complaint, the woman claimed that she first came into contact with the cricketer through Instagram in 2020. Their acquaintance allegedly developed into a relationship, with the woman claiming that the cricketer subsequently assured her that he would marry her.

Woman alleges relationship continued on promise of marriage

The complainant alleged that the cricketer had sexual relations with her on multiple occasions while repeatedly promising marriage.

According to the complaint, the alleged incidents took place in different cities, including Lucknow, Delhi and Kolkata. One of the specific allegations relates to an incident in Kolkata in September 2023, when the woman claimed she had travelled there after being asked to meet the cricketer.

The allegations have not been established in court and remain subject to police investigation.

The woman also alleged that she had been working as a cabin crew member in Delhi but eventually left her job after the cricketer allegedly asked her to do so, assuring her that they would get married.

She further claimed that the cricketer had promised to marry her following the IPL auction in December 2025, but the alleged commitment was not fulfilled.

Family members also named in complaint

The complaint reportedly contains allegations involving members of the cricketer's family. The woman claimed that when she pressed for marriage, she was called for a discussion involving the cricketer and his family. According to her account, she was allegedly told that the family would not accept the relationship.

She has also alleged that she was threatened during the dispute and named another family member in her complaint. Following the alleged confrontation, the woman approached the police seeking action.

According to the report, the woman initially approached Ashiana police station and subsequently contacted Vibhuti Khand police station, citing the jurisdiction connected with the alleged incidents.

She later approached the DCP East's office in Lucknow after claiming that she had not received a satisfactory response.

Police have since taken up the matter, with the investigation being handled by the ACP Vibhuti Khand. The complainant's statement has also been recorded, according to the report. MyKhel has approached the police station for a comment.
