Ranji: MP humble UP
Indore, Feb 23 (UNI) Shantanu Pitre grabbed four wickets as Madhya Pradesh registered a comfortable six wicket win over Uttar Pradesh in a Central Zone Ranji Trophy league one-dayer here today.
After winning the toss, the hosts opted to field. Mohammad Kaif, who has to his credit a couple of centuries in league matches, and the rest of the initial batting order crumbled at a paltry 95/5.
Shivkant Shukla (33) and Ali Hamid (25) added 35 for the sixth wicket. Shukla fell with the team score at 130 and Hamid went with the scoreboard reading 145.
Parminder Singh (50 not out) and Avinash Yadav (25) contributed 66 for the eighth wicket and took the score to 211.
The hosts reached the target of 218 in 41 overs and earned four points. Mohnish Mishra (66), Devendra Bundela (48), Naman Ojha (37), Zafar Ali (29) and Abbas (21) were the contributors.
For Uttar Pradesh, Yadav took two wickets.
