Saurashtra batter Cheteshwar Pujara has scored a fantastic double hundred against Jharkhand in the ongoing Ranji Trophy match on Sunday (January 7).
The Indian batter has started this domestic season in the grandest manner possible, as he is currently batting on 230 runs in the first innings.

During his excellent inning, Pujara has also surpassed former India player VVS Laxman's first-class runs tally in the process. After crossing 161 runs, Pujara overtook Laxman's tally of 19,730 runs.
At the moment of publishing, Pujara has 19,799 first-class runs with 61 centuries and 77 fifties to his name. The 35-year-old now sits 4th in the all-time first-class runs tally among Indians.
Sunil Gavaskar still sits top with the most first-class runs among India with 25,834 runs in his career. Sachin Tendulkar sits in the 2nd place with 25,396 runs, whereas Rahul Dravid completes the podium with 23,794 runs.
Pujara's double hundred has taken Saurashtra to 559 for 4 at the moment and they lead by a mammoth 417 runs till now. Jharkhand were bowled out for a paltry 142 runs in the first innings.
Pujara, who hasn't played for India since June 2023, will be hoping to pave a comeback into the Indian team in the upcoming England series.
