The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has announced Bengal's squad for the upcoming two rounds of Ranji Trophy.
Mohammed Shami's return to competitive cricket has been postponed once more. The Indian pacer was not included in Bengal's squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy matches in Bengaluru and Indore.

Shami was expected to make his comeback through the Ranji Trophy this week. However, he was not named in India's 18-member squad for the Border Gavaskar Trophy. He had hoped to gain match practice with Bengal during the fourth and fifth rounds of the Ranji Trophy against Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh.
Bengal's match against Karnataka will start on November 6, while the Madhya Pradesh encounter starts on November 13. These two matches will also mark the end of the first phase of the Ranji season, with the final phase set to commence again from January 23 onwards.
Shami underwent surgery in London in February. Initially, he was expected to return during home Test series against Bangladesh and New Zealand. Unfortunately, a swollen knee caused another delay in his comeback.
Along with that, Wriddhiman Saha also announced his retirement from cricket after the Ranji season. The veteran will only play in the red ball format for Bengal in the final chapter of his career, as he announced on social media.
The Bengal team has made a moderate start to the season, which has so far been marred by rain. After getting 3 points in the first match against Uttar Pradesh, their matches against Bihar and Kerala were ravaged by rain. Bengal are currently placed 4th in the Elite Group C points table with 5 points in three matches.
