Jharkhand has announced their squad for the first two Ranji matches. Jharkhand's Ranji Trophy 2024-25 campaign commences with a clash against Assam in Guwahati and then they face Railways in Ahmedabad.
Ishan Kishan has been named as captain whereas seasoned campaigner Virat Singh is going to deputize him.

Ishan Kishan has his sights set on making a comeback to the Indian national team. His most recent appearance for India was during the T20I series against Australia in November 2023. Despite being part of the squad for the tour of South Africa in December last year, Kishan had to return to India midway due to personal reasons.
After that, Kishan lost his BCCI central contract and has so far not been called up in the Indian team. During the Irani Cup competition, Kishan represented the Rest of India squad. The southpaw did not perform the wicketkeeping duties, which were handled by Dhruv Jurel.
For Jharkhand, Kumar Kushagra is expected to have the wicketkeeping duties, who played for Delhi Capitals earlier this year. Anukul Roy and Utkarsh Singh are other notable inclusions in the team.
Ishan is an experienced player and he has international experience. We have picked a very young team. Saurabh Tiwary, Shahbaz Nadeem and Varun Aaron had all retired after last season so we had to rethink our strategy. Ishan is capable of leading this young side and we're confident of doing well this Ranji season," Jharkhand chief selector Subroto Das said.
It is going to be a crucial season for them especially after three stalwarts of Jharkhand cricket retired at the end of last season. Jharkhand are placed in Elite Group D along with Assam, Tamil Nadu, Chandigarh, Railways, Chhattisgarh, Delhi and Saurashtra.
