Mumbai, the reigning champions, is gearing up for the upcoming matches with their squad announcement for the first two games of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season.
They are set to compete against Baroda in an away game on October 11, which will be followed by a match against Maharashtra at home on October 18.

Sarfaraz Khan is not named in the squad as these matches are scheduled around the same time as the India-New Zealand Test match, which kicks off on October 16 in Bengaluru. Amidst this busy cricket schedule, Sarfaraz is likely to continue for the Indian team.
The batter made an outstanding contribution of 222 runs in the first innings of the Irani Cup against Rest of India. Sarfaraz's brilliant double century played a key part as Mumbai won the Irani Cup.
As per reports, the player is likely to remain at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and then may join with his India teammates ahead of the first Test against New Zealand.
Although Sarfaraz is not included, former captain Shreyas Iyer has been named in the team for the first two matches. Ajinkya Rahane, who played decently for Mumbai in the Irani Cup as well, is set to lead the team. Kolkata Knight Riders youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi will also be in contention to play at the highest level of domestic cricket. All-rounder Shardul Thakur will also have an opportunity to impress as he makes to the Mumbai squad.
Mumbai will be hoping for a fast start to the campaign this term against their fellow West India opponents.
