Delhi captain Himmat Singh scored a match-winning 194 as the national capital-based side defeated Uttarakhand by seven runs for their first win in Group D of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024 in Mohali on Monday (January 29).
In another Ranji Trophy 2024 Group B match, Uttar Pradesh defeated Mumbai by two wickets as the innings of Aryan Juyal (76) and Karan Sharma (67) stood out with the bat in Mumbai. Chasing a target of 195, the UP duo added 104 runs for the second wicket.

Meanwhile, in Mohali, Himanshu Chauhan (5/39) and Hrithik Shokeen (3/81) did the job with the ball for Delhi after Himmat Singh's counter-productive knock. Vitally, they pick six points from the match. Despite the win, Delhi remains at the seventh place in the eight-team Group D.
After resuming the day with four wickets remaining and 77 runs required to win, Uttarakhand was dismissed for 165 runs in 79.3 overs. Uttarakhand's lone hero, Akhil Rawat, amassed a heroic 63 off 185 balls, but he had little help from the other end.
However, as soon as Rawat was defeated by Shokeen, the signs were clearly not good for Uttarakhand. At Cuttack, Rajesh Mohanty sparked a batting collapse in Himachal Pradesh ranks who lost nine wickets for a mere 88 runs on the final day against hosts Odisha, who romped home with a 238-run win.
In the second innings, Mohanty returned 20-5-33-5, while Biplab Samantray claimed 2/25 and Debabrata Pradhan, Sunil Roul, and Harshit Rathod each claimed one wicket. Prior to this, Himachal had scored 176 in the first innings.
Prashant Chopra engaged in a kind of lone combat with 57. Due to their outstanding batting performance in the first innings, which saw them go out to a lead of 74 runs, Jammu and Kashmir emerged victorious with three points, while the hosts, Baroda, were left with just one point.
Mahesh Pithiya was the highlight for the visitors with 5/82, while Baroda, who were suffering at 193/7 when stumps were drawn, was led by Sahil Lotra with 63 not out.

The visitors Uttar Pradesh finished at 195/8 in almost 70 overs with right-arm off-spinner Tanush Kotian (5/58) leading the fightback for Mumbai with the ball.
