Ranji Trophy : Ravichandran Ashwin Heaps Huge Praise On Himanshu Sangwan After Getting Virat Kohli Out , Says 'Not An Ordinary Bowler'

Ravichandran Ashwin, ex India spinner has heaped praise on Railways pacer Himanshu Sangwan, who recently dismissed Virat Kohli during his Ranji Trophy comeback after a gap of over 12 years.

Ashwin was particularly impressed with the quality of the delivery that led to Kohli's dismissal, highlighting Sangwan's skill and class.

Himanshu Sangwan

"Himanshu Sangwan delivered a phenomenal ball. He is not an ordinary Ranji Trophy bowler. He is a tested performer. He is a gold-dust performer. He bowled an exceptional delivery. There was a gap between pad and bat, it was a class delivery. The ball deserved a wicket," heas remarked on his YouTube show 'Ash ki Baat.'

The 38-year-old further analyzed Kohli's dismissal, pointing out the adjustments needed when facing bowlers of varying speeds. "I saw him (Virat Kohli) batting. His bat was coming down a little faster. Sometimes, you have to adjust to the speed. When you face 140-145kmph bowlers regularly, you need to adjust to the pace. Time in the middle, nothing can beat it," he added.

Kohli managed just six runs off 15 balls on Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy clash. Despite Sangwan's impressive figures of 4/55, Delhi's captain Ayush Badoni played a crucial role with his aggressive 99 off 77 balls, turning the game in Delhi's favor. Sumit Mathur contributed with an 86-run knock, supported by valuable runs from the lower order, as Delhi posted a commanding total of 374, securing a 133-run lead.

The crowd at Arun Jaitley Stadium missed another opportunity to watch Kohli bat, as off-spinner Shivam Sharma claimed a five-wicket haul, bowling out Railways for just 114. Delhi triumphed by an innings and 19 runs. Despite the victory, Delhi fell short of qualifying for the next stage, finishing third in Group D with two wins from seven matches, amassing 21 points.

With just a little over two weeks left for the Champions Trophy, Kohli will be focusing on the ODIs, when India take on England in a 3-match series ahead of the big-ticket event.
