Mayank Agarwal made a strong claim to return to the Indian team on Thursday as the out-of-favour Indian opener slammed a crucial double ton for Karnataka on Day 2 of Ranji Trophy semifinal against Saurashtra in Bengaluru.
Mayanak scored 249 runs off 429 balls as he slamed 28 four as he smashed 28 fours and six sixes during his match-defining knock. He was the last Karnataka wicket to fall on the day as Karnataka posted a 407/10 in 133.3 overs with Sheldon Jackson running him out.
Mayanl Agarwal's knock helped the hosts recover from 112/5 to go past 400 runs as the 31-year-old opener waged a lone battle against a Saurashtra bowling led by Chetan Sakariya.

Agarwal had a crucial 139-run stand for the sixth wicket with wicketkeeper-batter S Sharath, who played a second fiddle with an innings of 66. The former Karnataka captain then had another important 91-run stand for the ninth wicket with Vidhwath Kaverappa, who latched on to the other end with a 42-ball 15.
Earlier on Day 1, Agarwal failed to receive much support from the Karnataka top order that included the likes of Devdutt Padikkal, Manish Pandey, and Shreyas Gopal.
Pandey and Gopal scored 7 and 15 respectively after opener R Samarth (3), Padikkal (9), Nikin Jose (18) made nominal contributions as Bangalore looked in trouble at 79/4 post-lunch.
