Ravichandran Ashwin, one of India's all-time best spinners, pulled off an absolute shocker on Wednesday, 18th December after the conclusion of the 3rd Test between India and Australia in Brisbane, which ended in a draw.
Out of nowhere, Ashwin announced his retirement from all formats of international cricket effective immediately, which made his teammates, experts and the loyal fans emotional.
For years, he has been a fabulous player across all formats for the nation and left an indelible mark on the minds of all cricket enthusiasts.

India legend, Sunil Gavaskar, who was on commentary during the final day of the 3rd Test, teased Ashwin's retirement, after he was spotted engaging in an emotional interaction with Virat Kohli at the Indian dressing room and it proved to be right.
Now, Gavaskar has made a huge remark on Rohit Sharma and it seems like, it could turnout like that if things don't fall in place.
It's not the retirement, he actually meant, but the India captain's recent form is very disconcerting for the team and the 1983 World Cup-winning batter feels if he keeps on continuing his lacklustre performance in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, in all likelihood, the 37-year-old will himself step down from his captaincy duties as far as the longest format of the game is concerned.
"I think Rohit obviously will get the opportunity to play in the next couple of matches, that's for sure. But maybe at the end of it, if he hasn't scored runs, my feeling is that he himself will take the call," said Gavaskar on ABC Sport.
"He's a very conscientious cricketer, he will not want to be a burden on the team. He's a cricketer who cares very deeply for Indian cricket. So if he doesn't score runs in the next couple of games, I think he himself will step down'', he further added.
Rohit's Test average has been horrendous so far as his first innings average is as low as 8 in the 2024 season.
