Ravichandran Ashwin Birthday: Test specialists and former teammates lead wishes as veteran spinner turns 37

Ravichandran Ashwin turned 37 on Sunday 17, September and his former teammates and current Team India Test specialists led the birthday wishes for him. The veteran off-spinner shared their Instagram Stories on his own handle to acknowledge their wishes.

Even though members of Indian team part of the Asia Cup 2023, remained bust planning and plotting ahead of the final at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma, Murali Vijay, Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan did not miss the opportunity to convey their best wishes to Ashwin.

Ashwin is currently not playing any form of cricket. He last featured in the 2-Test series against West Indies. His names did the round ahead of India squad selections for the Asia Cup 2023 and World Cup 2023. However, he failed to find a place in both the multi-nation events.

"We also thought of Ashwin and Washi as well. The only way we could include them was by having a seamer miss out. We cannot do this because seamers are going to be playing a massive role in the next two months," captain Rohit Sharma had said while announcing India squad for the World Cup 2023 alongside chief selector Ajit Agarkar.

The Chennai-born cricketer, who has picked 489 wickets in 94 Test matches, is expected to be next seen during India's Test series in South Africa later this year.
