In the second test match of the Bangladesh tour of India at Green Park in Kanpur, Ravichandran Ashwin was awarded the Player of the Series, and along with that, he made a record in test cricket.
In the two-match series against Bangladesh, India won it with a 2-0 clean sweep. The win was quite important regarding the upcoming WTC in 2025.

In the first match in Chennai, Ashwin was the Man of the Match. In that match, he played a brilliant knock of 113 runs in a difficult time and also took six wickets in the second innings. In the second test, Ashwin took five wickets and helped India to Bangladesh innings within 146 runs in the second innings.
This spectacular all-round display of cricket led him to the Player of the Series award for the 11th time in his career. Which also happened to be the highest by any player, along with Sri Lankan legend spinner Muttiah Muralitharan.
However, Ashwin achieved the feat in a much lesser number of matches than the Lankan spinner. The 38-year-old Indian off-spinner did it in only 102 matches across 43 Test series, while Muralitharan took 133 tests across 61 test series to do the same.
After being awarded, Ashwin said at post match presentation, “Really glad that I’m able to turn up performances for the team’s victory. Winning the game was important for us today. Massive win for us in the context of the WTC.” Also added, “The kind of bowling attack I’m part of, incredibly proud of it.”ver, this is not the only record Ashwin has made in this series. He had also broken the record of Anil Kumble of most test wickets in Asia by an Indian on Day 1 of the second test in Kanpur.
