Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami unlikely to feature in remaining of India vs England Test series

Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami are unlikely to feature in the remaining three Test matches against England due to their respective injuries. Shami was not considered for the first two Tests because of his ankle injury, while Jadeja incurred a hamstring injury during the first Test.

Mohammed Shami was named in the India squad for the South Africa Tests but could not feature in any of the matches due to the same injury, Avesh Khan was named as his replacement for the second Test during the tour.

"As of now there is little or no chance that Mohammed Shami (who is in the UK for ankle treatment) and Ravindra Jadeja will be fit for the remainder of the series.

In the case of Rahul, he is getting better and a gap of a week between second and third Test will also help him getting match-ready," A BCCI source told PTI.

Notably, KL Rahul was also ruled out of the second Test after suffering a quadriceps injury. Rajat Patidar replaced himself in the India playing eleven for the second Test. Once Rahul is back, either of Gill and Iyer could make way for him if they fail to perform in the second innings of the ongoing second Test against England in Visakhapatnam.

Mohammed Shami hasn't played for India since the World Cup 2023 final. India have been dealing with unavailability and injury issues since the start of the tournament. Virat Kohli also pulled out of the first two Tests to be with his wife. The couple is expecting their second child.
