Ravindra Jadeja, aged 35, has announced his retirement from T20 Internationals following India's historic T20 World Cup victory against South Africa in June 2024.

Although the Indian cricketer is still active in ODIs and T20Is, his wife Rivaba Jadeja announced Jadeja's membership for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Taking to her official Twitter handle, Rivaba posted pictures of her husband as the newest member of the BJP. She also shared their BJP membership cards with the hashtag - Sadasyata Abhiyaan 2024, which is part of a membership drive recently initiated by JP Nadda.

Will Ravindra Jadeja contest for BJP?

Ravindra Jadeja hails from Gujarat. Although he has joined the BJP this year, the player may only contest in an election later. With the next state assembly election of Gujarat set to take place in 2027, the India player may contest at that time. The Indian all-rounder has currently just joined as a member, and no such election plans seems on the cards right now.
