Ravindra Jadeja, who last played for India in the final of T20 World Cup 2024, was released from Duleep Trophy 2024 Team B squad ahead of the first round matches, on Tuesday (August 27).
Mohammed Siraj, also part of Abhimanyu Easwaran's Team B, and Umran Malik (Team C) were also released ahead of the first-round matches which starts from September 5 in Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh.

Explaining the reason behind Siraj and Malik's omission, the BCCI revealed that the two fast bowlers were ill. Navdeep Saini, and Gaurav Yadav were named as replacements for Siraj and Malik respectively. However, the board made no announcement regarding Jadeja. A replacement was also not named.
Ravindra Jadeja wasn't included in India's white-ball squads for the Sri Lanka tour in July-August. Jadeja announced his T20I retirement alongside Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli after India won the T20 World Cup 2024 on June 29 in Barbados.
Kohli and Rohit featured in the ODI leg of the Sri Lanka tour, but Jadeja wasn't named in the squad. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar later clarified that the star all-rounder wasn't dropped but rested.
"Not at all dropped. Either him or Axar. Big test season coming up. I don’t think 3 games would have mattered. We should have cleared. He is still within the scheme of things," Agarkar had said in the press conference ahead of Team India's departure to Sri Lanka.
While the wait for Ravindra Jadeja's return to action continues, the 35-year-old continues to be hyper active on social media. Moments after the BCCI announced his release from Team B squad for Duleep Trophy 2024, the southpaw posted an Instagram Story.
The picture showed Ravindra Jadeja giving a laid-back pose in a black t-shirt. As per his last two Instagram posts, Jadeja is at his farmhouse in Jamnagar, Gujarat. "Homeland," he captioned one his post.
Jadeja is expected to return to action with the two-Test series against Bangladesh which starts from September 19.
