Ravindra Jadeja has started to gear up for return to action ahead of the upcoming 2-Test series against Bangladesh starting September 19. The 35-year-old's name was recently pulled out of Duleep Trophy first-round matches. The BCCI did not reveal the reason behind the withdrawal.
He was named in Abhimanyu Easwaran's India B squad for the star-studded fixture against Shubman Gill's India A in the domestic red-ball tournament. Considering that Jadeja has been out of action since the T20 World Cup 2024 final, the decision surprised many.

However, the star all-rounder has now announced his comeback trail, and posted a picture from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. "Started," Jadeja captioned the image on his Instagram Story.

Ravindra Jadeja announced his retirement from T20Is alongside Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma after India won the T20 World Cup 2024 on June 29 in Barbados.
While Kohli and Rohit featured in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in August, Jadeja was not named in the squad. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar clarified that the senior player was rested and not dropped. He said the decision was taken keeping in mind India's busy Test season in which they will play ten Test matches inside the next four months.
Jadeja was expected to warm-up for the Bangladesh series with a Duleep Trophy match, but seems like he opted to instead train at the NCA before making himself available.
Meanwhile, Axar Patel impressed in the first-round match for India D. He scored 86 runs in the first innings, and 28 in the second. He also picked three wickets across the two innings. He will be a contender for India's playing eleven in the first Test alongside fellow all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. However, there is also a strong change of Ashwin, Jadeja and Axar all playing together.
